Sohrab Madani

Research Intern

smadani2@illinois.edu

Sohrab has sometimes had a unique vantage point. In addition to being a person who grew up in the north or Iran, he has Iranian, Turkish and Arab ancestry. He currently lives in Watertown, MA but has lived in Champaign, IL and Tehran, Iran. A proud first-generation non-medical-doctor student in the family, mathematics and its applications are a very personal issue to him, and many of his passion projects have focused around them.

Sohrab is by no means versatile writer, and has never assumed a consultant or administrator role in his life (except being his younger brother’s mentor). He has found professional success writing about research projects in venues such as CVPR 2020 and NSDI 2021. At Signal Kinetics, Sohrab works on robust wireless sensing with applications in health monitoring.

Sohrab spends his free time playing piano, video games, as well as teaching the ways of life to his younger brother. If he’s not at home, he is probably dead (he does not travel). He has visited around 10 countries across Asia and Europe, with no plans to visit any other country anytime soon.
